Care Instructions
Tailored trousers last a great deal longer when they are cleaned less often and hung properly.
Everyday Care
- Hang them Store on a clamp or bar hanger by the hem so the weight of the fabric pulls the leg straight. Folding over a rail sets a crease where you do not want one.
- Rest between wears Give a pair a day off between wears. The fibres recover and the knees drop back.
- Brush, do not wash Most marks lift with a soft clothes brush or a damp cloth. Washing a tailored trouser after every wear shortens its life considerably.
- Spot clean promptly Blot — never rub — with a clean damp cloth and let it air dry away from direct heat.
Washing & Pressing
- Follow the label The care label sewn into the garment is authoritative. Where this page and the label disagree, the label wins.
- Cool and gentle If machine washing is indicated, use a cool gentle cycle, turn the trousers inside out, and wash with like colours.
- Do not tumble dry Heat is what shrinks and distorts a tailored leg. Hang to dry.
- Press inside out Use a warm iron on the reverse, or a cloth between iron and fabric, to avoid shine on the surface.
